Two years later, Harlan Thrombey dies peacefully in his sleep at the age of 87. That leaves his wayward grandson, Ransom, to pick up the pieces. Ransom didn’t have any strong opinions towards the nurse. As much as he and Harlan butt heads, Marta took care of him well and gave him a friend. For the creator of the Thrombey family, someone that cared about him was hard to come by.
So, yeah. Even though Marta was a naive, soft-spoken, timid doe that he could easily step on, choke, or destroy, Ransom didn’t hate her.
He almost did. Especially when Harlan informed him of her sole inheritance of his entire will. But then that old coot said something too intriguing for Ransom to ignore.“You know, Marta beats me at GO more than you ever have.”
