As it is, he could have wished for another six hours' respite, maybe twelve, but it's not like he has a say in the matter: these episodes always come at him like a goddamn tsunami, and all he can really do is put his head down and ride it out. Or, Eliot is sick and the team takes care of him.

Summary
He pulls up to the alleyway where he’s pretty sure Eliot is and waits. A minute later the passenger door opens and he hears Eliot grunt as he gets in. Nate turns to look at him and sees the man covered in blood. It’s mostly on his clothes, but his nose has dry blood under it.
Eliot rolls his eyes as he catches Nate staring. “It’s not mine.” He says.
Nate hums. “I know. Who’s is it?” He asks as he starts the car.
Eliot is quiet for a moment. “You don’t want to know that, Nate.” There’s something venomous in his voice.

Summary
His job is protection now. It’s no longer retrieval, or killing, but instead protecting. A hitter. He doesn’t think the team realizes the extent of that until after Moreau. Because to them, protecting only means stopping the hits, but to Eliot it means so much more. To Eliot it means hiding them from all danger, not letting them know how dangerous a situation is, because he has it handled. His job is to give them faith that they can do their jobs unharmed.
His job doesn’t include letting them worry about him.
