Summary
End over end, Hawkeye braids, weaves, knots, creating something though he’s not sure what. He’s thinking of Margaret as he works, it’s her yarn after all, and with every strand he tucks in he feels like he’s falling into a kind of trance, memories surfacing and overlapping.

Summary
BJ has never seen Hawkeye react to a patient this way, folding the kid's hand between both of his and beaming down into his face. He's still groggy but BJ watches as his eyes focus on Hawkeye, as recognition blooms across his face with a big smile to follow. Hawkeye turns after a minute and beckons BJ closer, introducing him. Backwards. Usually it’s all Private so-and-so this is Doctor Hunnicutt, your personal miracle worker. Today he hears, “Beej, we've got a repeater here! Meet George Weston, already the bearer of some of my finest work.”
---
Or: During a marathon OR session, BJ uses their new vascular clamp to work a miracle on a mangled leg. Over the next week he watches as Hawkeye gives the patient special attention, the weight of history between them reminding BJ that for all he feels he's known Hawkeye for his entire life, Hawkeye has been through a lot that has nothing to do with him.
And that's even before he wakes in the middle of the night to hear Hawk and Weston talking quietly on the other side of the tent, musing on life, love, happiness, and a certain doctor who went home without a note.

Summary
Hawkeye makes a show of looking around the crowded club before leaning in on his elbows, his face very close to John’s. “You want to talk about this? Here, now? Here is where you want to talk about this right now?”
---
Hawkeye and Trapper have a talk with George Weston the night before he’s discharged, and it leads to Trap asking Hawk what it was like for him, growing up queer. They don’t talk like this, at least they never have before, but they agree that for one night only, until midnight, they’ll ask and answer and be honest with each other about their lives before Korea.
