    “I could leave the room and observe from out there,” I say.

    “No,” Grace insists. “Go to other end of ship. Go back to sleep. Go unconscious.”

    “I want to observe,” I say. “You’re enjoyable to watch. I want to know. I want to perceive everything about you.”

    Grace… doesn’t say anything in response to that. His mouthparts move soundlessly, and his tongue flickers out to moisten his lip.

    Grace barely manages to save himself and Rocky from death. Between the extreme gravity forces he'd experienced, his chemically burned arm, and nearly stopping Rocky from saving himself, Grace decides the Taumoeba can wait. He decides to rest. At some point, Rocky decides to intervene.

    In short: Grace starts using painkillers a little too much and Rocky gets very concerned. But Grace's new vocalization of his desire while a little drowsy has Rocky a bit less worried.
