Penelope thinks it’s just one of those wrong place, wrong time situations. She really does.
Because she’s not sure how else she ends up getting invited along on the yearly Bridgerton getaway and, moreso, how she ends up agreeing. She knows it’s a horrid idea, no matter how nice three weeks at a Sicilian villa sound. Honestly, she’s not sure she’ll be able to last three weeks seeing Colin Bridgerton shirtless under the Italian sun, which is why she finds herself glaring daggers at the man right now.

Buck is exhausted right down to the core of him, body aching from the last 48 hours of his shifts—his throat is bruised and sore, reducing his voice down to a hoarse whisper, and his ribs hurt from where he’d gotten knocked into a concrete barrier during a rescue, and his bad leg is throbbing so badly from the barometric pressure change that comes with the Santa Ana winds that he’s limping around his apartment. He wants to cry a little he’s so tired, and then there's a knock at his door and it's the last person he was expecting, and if he's honest with himself, the exact person he was yearning to see.

Buck blushes. Always has. Gets flustered easily, ducks his head with a giddy, boyish grin at any compliment. It’s poetic, really, that he’s a firefighter because he flushes bright, fire engine red every time.
Still, though. He’s not sure he’s ever blushed as much as he does with Tommy.
