Summary
Zoey learns she is terminally ill, electing not to tell her friends she tries her best to hide from them while enjoying the last few months of their company. Eventually her plan fails and she is unable to keep her secret from Mira and Rumi; who are desperate to help Zoey in any way they can.

"I'm Scared." Zoey whispered.
“I know.” Mira hummed softly. “But soon, there won’t be any fear, or sadness or pain.” She told Zoey. “You won’t be scared anymore.” Mira cried as she brushed the stray hair out of Zoey’s face. “You won’t hurt anymore.” Mira’s voice wavered as she spoke, she could no longer keep the tears from falling.
Zoey watched Mira closely, seeing the hurt in her eyes, hearing it in her friends voice pained her. Yet the fear of dying was finally setting in. For a while, it was some far off worry., but now it was here. Zoey knew her time was drawing closer.
“What do you think dying feels like?”

“The fans are eating up you being a romantic,” Rumi informs her with a smile. “They think it’s cute.”
Mira frowns, pausing her scratching under Derpy's chin (he does not seem to mind. Or notice. Honestly, Mira's not exactly sure if the tiger is even aware that he's alive, sometimes…). “I’m not supposed to be cute. Zoey is cute-”
“Aw, thank you!”
“-you are cute, puppies are cute, Derpy is cute.”
“Mira you’re very, very cute,” Zoey disagrees loudly from where she’s poking at a pot on the stove.
“No, I- ugh. Whatever, not the point. Why did you two say that, anyway, about me being some closet romantic?”
Rumi blinks at her. “Because… you are?”
“I am not- when have you ever seen me fawn over someone opening a door?” Mira scoffs, resuming her ministrations on their fluffy visitor.
“Never, but-”
"So why did you do that? Now people think I'm some swooning idiot."
“Right, no- Mira, I meant that you like to do those things.”
“Duh,” Zoey calls helpfully from the kitchen.In which Mira decides to sweep Rumi and Zoey off their feet, and Rumi and Zoey are too stupid (affectionate) to realize it.

Summary
While dating and committing to someone was something of a mystery to Rumi, she was no means a prude. She had her fair share of kisses and hands on experience in the past. She knew what it was like to put a hand under someone’s shirt, or kiss until the whole room would start to spin. That’s not what intimidated Rumi.
The fact that there were two of them looking to go there with her that made her knees weak and made her question the move.
Rumi goes out to the bar the Friday before starting at a new university. She ends up going home with both hands full.
