"From the moment you are reborn, you’re set out into a game of survival, every demon for itself. You are given the singular goal of forever becoming stronger, faster, smarter. There is no point in companionship. There is no benefit in staying together. Even now you both present weakness, baring your throats for the other to survive. Is it not futile? Is it not worthless?”
“He’s my brother.” Technoblade breathes out, unwavering, despite the terror so clearly kept.
Philza narrows his eyes.

“We can strike a deal.” Dream offers. “You can spare the town.” It’s almost a plea, in the way he says it.
“I could.” The pirate says, Dream staring straight ahead with clenched fists. “I could leave the rest alive. I could go back on my ship, return to my captain, and leave you as you are.”
Wilbur leans closer to the ledge of the window, straining his ears to catch their voices, trying to see every single detail, since he might be the only one left in this building to witness it.
“But.” The Blood God stops in his pacing, a wide grin on his face. “You have something he wants.”
He then lifts his chin up, looking straight at Wilbur.
“Or someone.”
Wilbur freezes, the air in his lungs feeling stuck as he sees red.
(Or, Wilbur was stolen from his family as a baby to be used as a threat so that The Angel of Death, the world's most infamous pirate, could be kept at bay. But Phil's learnt how to gather together loyal crew, and now they've finally come to get back what belongs to him.)

“And your name?” The fae asks, a hand held out, his voice so kind and sweet that Tommy nearly forgets himself, forgets the warnings he’s been given.
He opens his mouth to answer, then shuts it just as quickly.
“Uh.” Tommy says, like a fool. Now that was close. Too close.
(Or, a story in which Tommy has always been too curious for his own good.)
