Chloé would be the first to admit that she’s not a nice person. If she were feeling particularly self-reflective, she might even be willing to admit that it makes her less than suitable to be a hero. She was no Rossi, though. She knew Rossi didn’t get along with Dupain-Cheng any more than Chloé herself did, but this latest plan was…unthinkable, and Chloé would never be able to live with herself if she didn’t intervene on her souffre-douleur’s behalf. That still didn’t make her a hero, though, not considering everything else she’d done.
Or at least she didn’t think so.

SHIELD is in shambles, the Avengers Initiative has gone to shit. There's nobody to stop them. Their hit list isn't changing, either. The Avengers, or former Avengers, are still at the top. And you? You're the easiest to find.”
Tony rolled his eyes. “Yeah, no shit. I can handle myself. Besides, what are you going to do? I wouldn't trust a single one of your agents, and I very much doubt you are going to stick around here yourself.”
Fury nodded. “True. I have things I need to do, as do you. You can't afford to be focusing on weeding out Hydra.” Tony didn't trust that agreeable tone. “But, I have someone who can.”
There it was.
He pulled the folder onto his knee, and cracked it open. A picture was paperclipped to the front, and a name sat at the top in dark, neat letters.

PIPER has never been the center of her dad’s universe. That doesn’t mean she won’t stop trying. But, she doesn't want to keep getting kicked out of schools, so maybe running away while her dad is filming in NYC is her only option.
HAZEL doesn’t remember a lot of her life until six months ago. All she knows is what she was told: that she was an orphan, who was now going to go live with a nice lady in New York. But she can’t handle the forgetful old lady and her demon cats any longer.

From Annabeth’s mouth that would be one thing. She lives there, likes the aesthetics of the city so long as she doesn’t look down and is willing to stomach the smell if she has to, likes the public transport and hates the winters and summers. It is a place she lives, not really a home. She isn’t so sure what that actually means and that is enough to tell her that she doesn’t have a home like Percy does, that she has never known one. And that is just the thing. New York City is Percy’s home. It is not the apartment he has lived in since he was two-years-old, it is not his bedroom, it is none of the boarding schools he has been ferried between. It is New York, it is Manhattan. Things must be bad if he is begging to get out.
“Okay,” she nods even though he can’t see her, “We’ll get out of New York,”

Sally pushes it away in hopes the world is not as ugly as it seems.
Sally is wrong.
Silent tears roll down Percy’s face as he knows it’s useless. He’s gonna die soon. Gabe’s finally going to kill him.
Percy’s not quite sure what comes over him then. Unable to explain it. To make sense of it. Attributing it to pure instinct.

Amphitrite focuses on nothing but her connection to the child through the prayer. The connection which is abruptly cut off after a blood curdling scream pierces her mind.
Amphitrite flashes away from her domain in Atlantis within milliseconds to the kitchen of Sally Jackson.
