Kai fell to his knees, staring at the ever grey sky and clouds of smoke, visible from the ruins of this monastery.
“No.” He said, whispering at first.
“Kai?” He heard his sister’s call, concerned and confused.
“No!” He said louder, almost screaming.
“Kai!”
Out of the corner of his eye he saw Jay, looking around with stark terror and recognition.
“Oh.” He said, and Kai could almost hear his heart beat. “I know where we are. I can recognise it from- from the administration. It’s-“ he broke off, shaking his head.
“What?” Nya asked. “Where are we?”
Kai got up and turned.“The Land of Monsters.”
He gazed at the broken remnants of the portal they had walked through.
“And now I’m stuck here again.” -

Summary
After a devastating event in the middle of the battle with the Time Twins, Kai finds himself mysteriously transported back to the beginning of Ninjago’s timeline — waking in the wilderness with two young dragons, Ash and Surf, who share a soul-deep bond with him but don’t recall their origins.
