It's not that Anakin has never seen Obi-Wan without a beard before, but that could date back to when they first met, on that ship back in Tatooine. He can never understand why Obi-Wan uses his beard to hide his face when he's already perfect in every way. After all these years, Obi-Wan finally shaved his face perfectly clean for a special mission. This time, Anakin must know the reason why.
