Summary
Deadlock is sent on a mission to kill an Autobot medic. The Autobot medic in question just so happens to be the same one who saved Drift's life many, many years ago, and Deadlock walks in on him injecting himself with synthetic energon.
Several hours later, Ratchet is fragging him into next week.

“Hold on, firecracker. Have you heard this one yet?” You see a gentle sunrise of gold and red as Wukong’s eyes meet yours. His face softened, his other hand touching your arm, his thumb lightly tracing one of the scars. His voice was firm yet soft, grounding yet light as he spoke, “You’re safe.”

He keeps going, “You’re safe here. You’re safe with Uncle. With MK. With Tang. With all of them. All these years being alone in the dark without a candle to light your way? I can see in the dark, and MK can too now! I’m sure Uncle’s got a match somewhere and all you gotta do is provide the candle.”
He scoots closer, taking both your hands now and keeping your gaze. “You. Are. Safe. Even if shit hits the fan, you will not be alone to pick up all these broken pieces anymore. I’m here. We all are.”

Drift is gone. Ratchet and Perceptor are left to pick up the pieces in the wake of his exile. Somewhere along the way, both of them realize their sire coding is activated… and proceed to exhaust every other avenue of explanation trying to figure out why because they’re too stressed and freaked out to think properly for one nanoclick.
(It’s Drift. And he’s not having a good one about it.)

Ratchet's a medic, so naturally he takes advantage of the temporary truce to make inroads on the rampant ill health and malnutrition he's seeing in so many of the 'Cons. Deadlock seems weirdly skittish about it, and Ratchet has every intention of fixing him up one way or another - he just needs to avoid accidentally spooking the mech with Ratchet's own kinks in the process.
