Well. This is escalating at an unpleasant pace.
“Cecilia.”
The warning voice echoes out from deeper within the forest grounds, and so do the steps accompanying the figure that walks the path in their direction.
Their outfit suggests another member of the Mirror Coven, and whoever it is, their sudden presence makes every single witch up in the air land immediately and stand up straight.
“What exactly is going on here?” Jamil couldn’t see the color of their laurel at first, but now, under a patch of sun, it glints an intimidating golden color.
Jamil was certain only the Mirror Coven’s queen herself would wear gold. Perhaps because it isn’t quite her crown, it’s different.
Even without it, the way they carry themselves exudes status and self-respect. They seem stern, but not angry.
Jamil watches as they rub their temples momentarily before gazing over their shoulder in Jamil’s direction with instant eye contact.Jamil didn’t mean to flinch, but he did.
...
OR: It's never easy being sent as a physical messenger onto another coven's turf. Hostility is to be expected, and Jamil knows.
But making a "friend" certainly wasn't on his list of to dos. -

"Someone is going to try and poison you."
It isn't Vil's best opening line when it comes to greeting people he hasn't spoken with, but it might be one of the most important ones.
"Are you threatening me?" The prince's face scrunches once his thoughts have caught up, and Vil doesn't miss how their straight hand has clawed inward slightly, his nails poking into his back
"I'm warning you." Vil corrects. "Now stop looking distressed, people will try to listen in." Vil hisses quietly.

OR: After accidentally overhearing a ploy to poison Briar Valley's crown prince at a ball he is attending, Vil refuses to leave the eavesdropping as a forgotten incident, intent on warning the prince. The guards wouldn't take him seriously, he knows, so he goes straight to the next best thing.
Turns out it isn't very easy to have a private talk with a crown prince at a ball he is hosting, so Vil takes his chances at conversation during a rather unconventional moment. But it's the best he can do right now. -

"Are we not staying up?" Malleus ponders, and from the sound of his voice, it seems like he's trying to stay awake instead of continue to sleep.
It makes Vil stop stroking his hair, and the lack of complaint confirms his suspicion."Staying up?" Vil furrows a brow, writing down one of his final notes on a particular magical equation. "Whatever for?"
"Until midnight." Malleus speaks as if this is some kind of knowledge Vil is supposed to have already. "Until my birthday."

OR: Malleus is pretty adamant about having Vil be the first person to wish him a happy birthday. -

Zhongli seems unfazed, simply raising a single immaculate eyebrow. “There is no need to be rude.”
“I'm just being honest. You and I both know I don’t want to be here, Mr. Zhongli,” Childe says, leaning further back in his chair. “I don't like people trying to get inside my head, and I'm not gonna bawl my eyes out while I tell you all about my terrible childhood.”
Zhongli takes off his glasses, giving him another long look, measuring him with his eyes. “If you are not inclined to traditional therapy methods, may I suggest another solution? Hypnotherapy is one of my specialties.”
---Or cop!Childe has a new therapist. His methods are a little unorthodox.
