Katara was met with the full force of that mask, that terrible mask. Fanged and horned, with narrow eyes that glared angrily down at her, but beneath the ferocious downturned eyebrows she could see human irises shining down at her, golden amber and, she thought, looking past the monstrous exterior, a hint of curiosity.
"Stop following me," he said.
He was trying to intimidate her, and now that he was in front of her Katara realized how tall he was compared to her, taller than Sokka. He had looked like a boy next to the other performers, and Katara was sure he was young by the sound of his voice behind that mask. She refused to admit that his intimidation tactic might be working a little, her nerves still addled from what had happened onstage.
She stepped forward, closing the distance between them.
"I wanted to thank you," she said. "For saving me back there." And she took off her own mask, looking up at him and hoping that her expression looked sincere and not a bit afraid.

Summary
A week after Iroh and Zuko’s intervention with Azula in the crystal catacombs, Zuko tends to his uncle’s wounds. When Iroh’s condition grows worse, the only option for a healer appears to be a mysterious river spirit in Jang Hui.
Katara, separated from the Gaang, desperately wants to find her friends before the eclipse…
Who better to get help from then the banished prince that seems to always find them? The Blue Spirit turned and peered at her through the slits in his mask.
“You’re not really a spirit, are you?”
The Painted Lady froze, turning her head to stare at him through the crack in her veil.“I am just as much a spirit as you are,” she said, gazing out over the river.
The Blue Spirit always manages to help her when she needs him. How, she hasn’t a clue. But boy, is she thankful.
