He opened his mouth, voice low and earnest. “Miss March, I-” But she leaned in suddenly, cherry lipgloss coated lips pressing to his thinner ones in an impulsive, flare of emotion. The kiss was quick, clumsy and inexperienced, born of built up tension and the safety of the darkness. He gasped against her, the sound muffled, freezing in surprise.
As quickly as it came, she pulled back, stumbling to her feet. The tub of ice cream melting while forgotten on the cushion. Heat swam through her quivering body, face tingling. They stood awkwardly now, staring at the floor, the window, anywhere but each other.
