Day 25 Arthur makes an offhand joke about turning into a mole while digging and John doesn't laugh but wants to. Day 27 there's water and Arthur drinks and sits and the silence between them feels less heavy for a brief moment.
Day 29 Mr Faust arrives. Thirty days later John has stopped counting the days and has started counting how many times he has felt him die.

Summary
In front of them, the cultist was still screaming. And Arthur needed him to shut up. Needed that monster to be quiet before a bigger one came for them and he was scared and powerless. So goddamn powerless.
He was so sick of it. There was a cracking sound, echoing in the hallway and inside Arthur's head and the screaming stopped. It felt good. He let the stone come down again, feeling the wet spread on his hand.
It felt so fucking good.
Arthur! John was yelling though and he stopped, the stone in his hand heavy and slippery. He's dead. John hissed and there was anger in his voice. He's been dead before you started breaking his fucking bones.
