He never doubts for a second that Chuuya will come. Dazai wants to tell himself that it’s a rational conclusion — abandoning him on this mission would almost certainly brand Chuuya a traitor to a mafia, and the PM is no light enemy to face. Even Chuuya wouldn’t want that. Besides, sentimental as he is, he’s already started to find a family in this rotten place. He wouldn’t do it, it goes against logic.
But the steady belief in his heart has nothing to do with those arguments. It pulses with a vitality that Dazai scarcely experiences, coursing through his veins with a self assured confidence. Like it is meant to be. Perhaps it is what living feels like.

Summary
"What the hell did you do?," Chuuya snarls, fists digging into the collar of Dazai's bland-ass beige coat.
It's never 'what happened to you', or 'are you okay'. Because whatever happened, whatever caused Arahabaki to howl in his chest, caught somewhere between elation and agony, it surely is the bandaged bastard's fault.
It's always Dazai's fault.

Now Chuuya was a little worried, but before he really had the time to worry about what to do with this new, albeit vague, information, they stopped in front of one of the few tables in the bistro area.
At first glance the Mafioso didn't notice anything unusual - a completely normal table with two plates, on one of them was a piece of melon pan, on the other he saw something that looked like anpan with a piece of strawberry cake. This combination made Chuuya raise an eyebrow a little, but he refrained from any commentary. For now. But what caught his eye made him pause.“You're kidding me, aren't you?”

Fair. Dazai smiles melancholically. If not for Mio, perhaps he never would have made it indeed. Wanting to die and ending up nurturing life is a strange plot-twist, to say the least.
