Summary
“What are you doing?” Samuel fails to keep his eyes from rolling. Of course the noble would come looking for his brother. When does he not? It may be endearing if he wasn’t such a prick about Henry.
“Watching my brother work.” Samuel cranes his neck from one side to the next. It gives a satisfying crack.
“Why?” Samuel squints. When he holds his gaze like so he can almost cut out all the obnoxious yellow in the peripheral of his vision.
Henry brings the hammer down again. Sparks fly. “I wonder if that’s what our father looked like.”

Summary
Henry has one last task to finish up before the Italian job. Hans and Samuel go to watch him crush his competition in the tournament.

“I take it things did not go well.”“No. They did not.” Samuel answers with a nod.
They stand there, neither making a move to depart from the other’s company. Silence filling the space. Henry had asked Hans before why he had been picking fights with Samuel. All the reasons he’d given were superficial on the surface, and yet some rang far too close to a truth best left hidden. Despite that a few had been the same reasons he and Henry had a rough start. Now look at them. Fine. He could offer a branch. “Want to go watch?”
“The tournament?” Samuel tilts his head back.
“No doubt Henry will win.” Hans declares, because his bodyguard hasn’t lost a match since leaving Rattay. He even defeated Zizka. The rest of his opponents don’t stand a chance.
