Mista blinks his eyes wide awake. "What? No, listen, it wasn't like that—"
"Mista..." Giorno sighs his name and doesn't sound angry or betrayed, but sympathetic, which is all the more heartbreaking. "You said, verbatim, 'It'd sure be nice to know the guy I'm always putting my life on the line for. I'm sure the others would’ve liked to as well'."
Shit. Mista cradles his head in shame. He did say that. 'You idiot! "I'm—fuck! Giorno, I'm sorry. I'm an asshole. I'm really sorry."
"No, you meant it."
"Giorno—"
"And I'm sitting here with you now because you're right. You deserve to know me. So I'm going to tell you about myself, if that's alright."
(OR: Giorno has personal reasons for being such a private person but doesn't want his family—in particular, Mista—to feel like they can't trust him).

Pannacotta blinks—still in the present, but this isn't dejavu. They've done this song and dance before months ago in a restaurant.
(OR: Giorno has personal reasons for being such a private person but doesn't want to hide anymore. He opens his heart for the second time tonight for the sake of gaining trust—this time from Fugo).

The first thing Roy set his gaze on had not been the huge suit of armour, nor the little boy’s double amputation or the wheelchair, and not even the soulless look in his eyes. It had been the colour of them.
It felt like he’d lost the ability to breathe. Seeing that kid made him choke on his tongue, cutting off oxygen to his lungs as if he’d just been punched in the gut. He might as well have, from how fast his heart dropped.
