    Summary

“I’m not trying to pick a fight.”

“Well, great,” Diluc seethes. “Because I’m not, either.”

Kaeya chuckles, not bothering to look at Diluc. “Yes, you are.”

“I don’t even care enough to bother trying to fight with you.”

“You’re always trying to fight,” Kaeya tells him, and does not elaborate.

It’s not true. Like usual, Kaeya’s just talking out of his ass. Diluc is perfectly level-headed. Diluc is perfectly under control. Kaeya’s the one who needs to reign it in, who needs to get himself together, and Diluc would tell him exactly that—if he was looking for a fight. Which he is not.

    -

When a simple mission in Dragonspine goes south and leaves Kaeya injured, it falls on Diluc to get both of them back home in one piece. If he manages not to murder Kaeya himself, of course.

    Summary

    "Lucien?"
Rain plastered his hair to his face, his fine clothes soaked through and clinging to him. What was he doing here?
Then she saw the blood, and the question died in her throat. "What happened to you?" This time alarm carried the words instead of surprise. Blood slicked his chest and ribs, dark and glistening even in the dim light of the hallway, mixing with the rainwater running off him in rivulets.
He looked up, his odd mismatched eyes — one russet brown, one that metal-bright fae gold — fixing on her warily, like he expected her to shut the door in his face. "I—I got into a tussle with Tamlin." His gaze flicked past her shoulder, toward the warm glow of her painting room, and something in his expression crumpled. "I'm sorry, I thought you might be here, and I don't know — I can go. I'm sorry."
Feyre gaped at him. Then she reached out and yanked him inside, out of the pouring rain.
    "No. I can help."

More content concerning my headcanon of Kaeya experiencing the Khaenrei'ah curse like a chronic illness, this time more of just me angsty rambling.

Diluc notices Kaeya is acting off one evening and finds himself helping his sick brother
//Angst with my HC that the Khaenrei'ah curse affects Kaeya differently, like a chronic illness, but no one around him knows it's a curse, and he's gotten better at hiding it over the years.

    Summary

There are too many things that need to be said, but none that either of them dare to voice aloud, because they've committed to this lie of a forgotten acquaintanceship.

All they are right now is a man that has returned from afar, and a knight that remembers him vaguely from the past.

If that's how Diluc wants to play this - well. Kaeya is nothing if not an excellent actor.

Or: Diluc returns to Mondstadt after four years, and Kaeya realizes how shaky the ground he stands on is.
