Summary
She was an Ancient, he was Calamity's son. Hojo might have concocted him with more than a few drops of Ancient blood, and she did wonder sometimes if he could hear some echo of Planet. But he was Calamity's child to the bone. Whether he had no Ancient blood or he had it in spades, it didn't matter. He'd committed too many sins to ever find a place in the Promised Land.
“I don't desire anything from you. Except for you to stop breaking my things and dripping all over my campsite.” He was disrupting her neatness, blurring her boundaries, and making her insecure.
“I could break you,” His tone sharpens as that too-bright Mako gleam covered his eyes once more. “Are you afraid, little Cetra? Is your life flashing before your eyes?”

They still don’t know how she did it. How she could say something factually untrue with such strength to her words, enough-so that they started to believe her, too.

He'd grown up. They were in the city. Dess, too, had grown up, even if she was in the same clothes that no longer fit and she was ten steps behind. This wasn’t a day in Hometown where they ran around like kids. It was the life that she couldn’t formulate as a teenager, too clueless about what growing up would look like.
It was the life she wanted, right beside her best friend, basking in the light.

Finally, she could go see Asriel.
The last thing she wanted was to be a burden to him. She’d been gone for so long, and she’d wondered for some time if he had some new best friends. Within a day of seeing him, she realized that wasn't true. He missed her as much as she missed him. He never stopped calling her his best friend. He didn’t let her call him every night because he felt obligated, but because he wanted to be there.
