Summary
Shinichi was opposed to his mom's idea of taking a little tour of the US for the summer in the first place- especially since their stops weren't even Interesting. Who had ever heard of Gravity Falls anyway? He was thirteen, he had better things to do! Besides, he wasn't allowed to sit in the hotel room reading either, so the only thing he could do was just sit on a bench and people watch. As odd as the people of that town were, it was still boring.
But... there was a girl across the street, with a grin on her face and energy in her step, accompanied by one of the shadiest teens that he'd ever seen. Was she... okay? The way that guy looked at her... he didn't like it. He was bored enough to find out. Crashing into the girl's brother and joining his wild goose chase had not been the initial plan, but when it led him to something fantastical, the likes of which he'd never dreamed to have been real? Well, he couldn't say he regretted it.
(I put 13 yr old Shinichi in Gravity Falls. Surely this will go well.)
