It is 2087. What should be a time of learning and miraculous growth for all humanity, is instead a world coming back from the brink of Annihilation. Fifty some years ago, in a clap of thunder and the roar of tearing fabric, mankind found itself contending with a variable that could never have been predicted. Within a day, the Earth had gained dozens of sentient races, called colloquially 'Anthros'. These beings stood taller than man, held strength greater than theirs, their senses heightened far beyond what man could ever boast. They came with nothing, except for their knowledge. Yet, it was not a smooth transition. Even as they promised that together; their two species would learn and prosper together, War unfolded. As a plague wracked humanity, these Anthro's fought for their very existence. Not from threats that humanity posed, but from extinction. No male anthro's had come with them. This plague that coursed through all humanity would leave all the women dead, and even a fraction of the men fell victim and died. Summary
After a night out with friends, Mike wakes up with a pounding headache on an unfamiliar park bench and no recollection of how he ended up there. He is soon greeted by State Inspectorate Officer Jade Sanders, a hyena, who is responding to a call regarding a runaway male. The problem is, Mike isn't from the Anthrostate, he's from our reality. He's read about the Anthrostate, but he has no idea how he ended up here.
As Jade convinces a worried but hungry Mike to come with her, the truth is revealed, and as the two get to know each other, a bond begins to form. A fateful decision at a diner on the way to the Assignment center will change both of their lives forever. As Mike gets used to life in the Anthrostate, he faces culture shock, grief at the loss of his past life, and all the challenges of navigating a relationship with an eight foot tall hyena.
