Vi’s head lolled to the side. There was a clammy peakiness to her complexion, and if they didn’t get her to a doctor soon, the blood loss may be irreversible. As Caitlyn thought of what to do, the hairs on the back of her neck prickled. Cloudy pink eyes were staring at her from a tear-soaked, ashen face.
Jinx.
Caitlyn had almost forgotten she was there.
Oh, how she’d imagined this moment – coming face to face with her mother’s killer again. Caitlyn used to daydream of wrapping her hands around Jinx’s throat and watching the light leave her eyes. She pictured herself taking the shot and watching in satisfaction as Jinx died by her hand. No one could stop her this time. Her mother would have revenge. Justice would be served. Cassandra would finally be at peace.
But Caitlyn could never imagine what happened next.
“Please,” Jinx said, her eyes unwavering. “You don’t owe me anything, but please. Help her.”

“They’re all in the same fuckin’ campsite,” Mylo laughs. “No way.”
Caitlyn tenses. Without thinking, she sneaks a peek to her right. Vi’s jaw is locked. She must notice the movement– that or she's just as stupid as Caitlyn– because she glances over, too. For a brief second, they make eye contact, and then Caitlyn is snapping her gaze forward again, flushing. Fuck.
It’s gonna be one hell of a season.

The mission? Act normal around the girl you used to hook up with, and have a nice season. Caitlyn? Failing the mission.
