“Is that a kid?” Husk asked dumbly. This was the first child he’d seen in—years, easily. Probably at least a decade or more. And, in Alastor’s living room of all places? Listening to his damn nightmare broadcast?
All he could manage to utter was one question: “Why?”
“That is a good question, my dear Husker!”
“...You have no idea, do you?”
The widening of Alastor’s grin was answer enough.

Children are a rare in the Pride Ring, especially as sinners. What sorts of deeds in their short lives would lead a child to be cast into Hell? While Alastor never particularly cared for children, he's always been a bit curious about that, and about how growing up in Hell would impact their mental development. So when he stumbles upon one who doesn't seem too annoying, he decides observing her might make for some good entertainment.
After all, how many children can tell you about intestines but have no clue what an angel is?

Renka zoomed around the bar like a little whirlwind, her tiny feet pattering against the floor as she ran in circles, arms spread out like she was flying. She was giggling uncontrollably, playing some game that only made sense in her own head.
“Vroooom! I’m faster than a Sea King!” she declared, spinning around a chair and nearly knocking over an empty bottle.
Rayleigh sipped his drink, watching with amusement. “She’s got a lot of energy today.”
Shakky, casually smoking, smirked. “She stole a piece of cake from a pirate earlier. You should’ve seen it—fastest heist in history.
Before Rayleigh could respond, Renka miscalculated her next turn. She ran full-speed straight into the wall.
BAM!
She blinked at the ceiling, processing what just happened. Then, her tiny face scrunched up, and—
“WAAAAAAAAAHHHH!!!”
“Shakky, I think our daughter is dumb. I’m not sure, though.”
Shakky exhaled a slow puff of smoke, completely unfazed. “Ren-chan, wear your glasses.”
Renka sniffled dramatically, rubbing her forehead. “I don’t need them! I don’t wanna be an old man like Daddy!!”
Rayleigh nearly choked on his drink. “HEY!!”
