A Will and Jonathan introspection from season 1.
Everything hurts when Will wakes up. His fingers feel like they’re going to fall off, and his body is one big aching mess. Vines press indents into his arms despite his sleeves, telling him he’s been there too long. That it’s going to catch up, and he can’t have that happen. If he does, he’ll never get home. But it’s so cold. Almost too cold to move, and his skin is white as a sheet when he looks down at his shaking hands. But still he pushes himself up.
He teeters, unsteady and barely able to stand. Fear floods his veins at the idea of not being able to run, not being able to find another hiding place. Then he hears it, growling. It’s distant, but unmistakably the Demogorgon. And then Will’s running again, and everything starts to blur together. He grew up in this town, and he knows it inside and out. It’s not hard for him to remember his way around, but every hour he spends here, he gets slower and it gets harder to get away. And that thing never stops.

Will flushed bright, hiding his face. He did that a lot lately, whenever Billy accidentally said the L word.
It shouldn’t have been so difficult, they’d been together - officially - since November. Almost six months and something still seemed to hold him back, both of them back, really.
Not that they didn’t express their feelings for one another at all. Billy was making a nerdy little tabletop character, and Will was letting him shave random branches on his bed. If that wasn’t love Billy didn’t know what was. They just didn’t really talk about it.
