You see, Ryland knew Court was coming home soon, and he knew that the older man would definitely walk in on him and Colt making out, but he couldn’t find it in himself to care that much. Not when he knew Court wouldn’t be able to resist joining the two. In all honesty they hadn’t gotten too far, just some making out and light grinding when Court opened the door.

The ghost had finally been captured. Sierra Six was taken off the streets, and his, well, really she was his daughter at this point, was left alone. She wasn’t going to be. Brewer was going to take her. Hold an innocent life hostage. All so he would cooperate. Again.
"You're murdering me!" he had screamed at her in a fit of rage. It wasn't wrong. She was sending him off to die. The illusion of choice had been the biggest illusion of all.

Sierra Six has been taken off the streets. And the only way to guarantee safety and normalcy for Claire, like he had promised old Fitzroy, was to be sent to die. In simple terms, he was voluntold for the Petrova Project. Martin DuBois and Annie Shapiro have died in an accident, leaving no scientist for the project. Ryland Grace, the world’s leading Astrophage scientist, also so happened to be voluntold because of this. Looks like they’re both saving the world and dying together. Like Brothers.
