Summary
In the industry of experimental testing, one family rules over all else. The Edinwintry's have made a name for themselves through their cautious and ambitious use of new information and theories. When a few new people enter the playing field, will the family be able to keep their operation running smoothly? Or, more importantly, how will they keep the hidden cruelty from the public when it all falls apart?
Featuring lots of different POV's and a very complicated, slightly science based, depiction of what could happen if you give some really bored smart people an expensive lab and way to many genetically modifiable people at their disposable. Plus magic, an alternate world, creepy portals, and all the ways it might go wrong, or did.

Hylia was no fool. She knew the Shade wasn't either, and that without careful planning, her heroes would never manage to defeat it. Throwing all of your cards at the opponent for them see was idiotic, and her creators had always advised strategy. So as her precious Hero of Skies gathered his 'chain' at her command, Hylia gathered another group. Two sets: one to strike from the front, to protect and corner, and another to strike from behind, unexpected and unseen. A secret weapon, a trump card.
OR
We have the Chain(-Wild) doing the LU quest, and we have another group of heroes on a similar quest at the same time, and the two are completely unaware of each other. Until they aren't. Whoopsie.

“Find anything?” Wild asked, offering him a plate. “We heard something weird, was that you?”
“Just a few keese,” Warriors said a bit sheepishly as he took the food and sat down. “Startled me a bit, is all. They’re dealt with now, though.”
“I’m glad that you’re alright,” Sky said in response, looking up from his food and sending Warriors one of those soft smiles. “We were worried for a minute.”
Warriors gave him a grin. “I appreciate the concern, but I’m just fine, no need to worry about me.”
Wind caught movement in the corner of his eye, and he glanced over to see -
Warriors.
Warriors, translucent, hovering beside them all with an awful, stricken look on his face.
