Summary
His body aches.
That's the first thing he realizes; the second is that he feels weird.
Weird as in, he feels like he's fourteen again when he had that sudden growth spurt and his limbs ached from how fast they'd grown. His father had told him to man up about it, that it was normal to grow. It was normal for his body to ache as it got used to its new shape.
He feels like that again, but this time it is so. Much. Worse.
It's worse because when he looks down, he doesn't see hands. He doesn't see feet. He doesn't see clothes.
He sees a tail. And claws. And a knocked-over lamp where a leathery wing had bumped into it. Another wing that stays tucked against his side. His St. Christopher medallion on the floor, the chain broken.
He has to be dreaming. It would be impossible that he isn't stuck in a dream right now. A nightmare, even. It's impossible. It's insane.

Summary

Every snide remark about Chris’ CP, every passive aggressive comment from Helena Diaz, every vertebra of Eddie’s liquid spine, Shannon took right on the chin with a smile on her face.
But there was no corner of Shannon’s life that she tested her extreme tolerance for bullshit more than whatever the Samwise-and-Frodo, Bert-and-Ernie, Crockett-and-Tubbs hell was going on between her ex-husband and his best friend.
