Summary
Eddie decide quedarse en Texas y, en el proceso, descubre que no es heterosexual. Comienza una relación con un hombre que sus padres aprueban, construyendo una vida que parece correcta… pero dejando atrás a alguien en Los Ángeles que lo esperaba y que, poco a poco, se apaga.
Ese “moribundo”, marcado por el abandono, aprende a ponerse a sí mismo primero. En el proceso, también desarrolla formas —a veces manipuladoras— de asegurarse de no volver a quedar en segundo lugar.
La historia plantea entonces una segunda oportunidad: un nuevo comienzo donde ya no espera ser elegido, sino que se elige a sí mismo… y hace todo lo necesario para que esta vez el amor no lo deje atrás.

Maddie might be in over her head. Just maybe.
One second she was a forty year old woman with a husband and child and a stable career in Las Angeles, and the next it was the day after her high school graduation and she was back in Hershey. So now she's driving cross country with her nine year old brother to start a new life in LA. Just the two of them, away from all the grief and loneliness back in Hershey. Does she have any plans to get back to her future? Not sure. Is she determined to give this version of her baby brother a proper childhood filled with the love and attention he should have had before? You betcha. And maybe fixing a few other things along the way wouldn't hurt...
Yeah. Definitely in over her head.

“What if I kept her?” Evan repeats. “Like, just me.”
“Buck, what in the ever-loving fuck are you talking about?”
“You don’t want to keep her, right?” Evan says. “Which, a hundred percent, totally your call, I’m not like, trying to talk you out of it or anything but… What if— what if instead of, of putting her up for adoption, you give her to me? Or, I keep her, I guess. Since she’s like, mine. Half mine. So it’s not really giving her to me, but—”
“Buck,” Bart interrupts him. “I’m not… I can’t be a mom.”
“I know,” Evan reassures, so fast he nearly stumbles over the words.“I know, seriously. And I’m not— I wouldn’t ask you to be. I’m not asking you to be. But I think… I think I can be a dad. Or— no. I know I can be a dad. I— I want to be a dad.”
Evan forces himself to still, looking Bart straight in the eyes. Trying to communicate, wordlessly, how much he means it. How much he means all of it.
“I want to keep her,” he says.

Summary
The universe has secrets, and one of those secrets is the existence of alternate universes, each different from other. The fates from one universe accidently stumble upon a different one where the gods can have demigod children, and are surprised and infuriated at their bad treatment. They then see that even some of the gods are suffering under the rule of Zeus and decided to interfere by sending some of them to their universe where gods cannot have any demigod children so that they can be loved and cherished the way they deserve to be.
Unfortunately, our multiverse travelers did not sign up for this experience, and now are left in ancient Greece of an alien universe.
(I have not read the The Chalice of the Gods, Wrath of the Triple Goddess, and The Court of the Dead yet; so this story would not be canon compliant to it.)
