    Summary

“You gonna say something?” Katsuki muttered “You’ve been following me around like some fishy ghost since I got here.”

    The Mer didn’t answer.

Instead, he let out a soft trill before gliding closer. His tail shimmered like ink in the dim water, His eyes never left Katsuki’s.

    Katsuki didn’t move.

    The lights flickered.

    And the Mer lunged.

Katsuki Bakugou never expected to land a position at Yuuei—the world-renowned research and rehabilitation facility for Merfolk. His job is simple on paper: monitor tank conditions, study diet patterns, and stay out of trouble. But nothing at Yuuei is simple, especially not the elusive, intelligent Merfolk who watch more than they speak. As Katsuki settles into his new routine, he begins to uncover just how little the world understands about the creatures beneath the surface, and how one in particular seems to understand him a little too well.

⚠️If you use AI at least be careful not to be this obvious:

"Izuku appeared, water parting gently as he swam over with a familiar-looking net bag slung over one shoulder. Katsuki could already spot the glint of shellfish inside, and the second he saw the squat, angry-looking crab clinging to the side, his mouth actually watered a little. He’d definitely grown to enjoy seafood more since his changes—probably something about the instinctual cravings tied to his new biology—but getting something besides fish for once was always a nice change.

Izuku returned with a triumphant croon and a netted bag slung over one shoulder—his usual haul of shellfish rattling faintly inside, along with what looked like a decently sized crab still twitching slightly. Katsuki’s mouth nearly watered at the sight of it.

He definitely liked seafood more now than before his changes—maybe a side effect of the gills or just spending so much time around mers—but anything that wasn’t just plain fish was a welcome break. Izuku proudly dumped the bag near the pool's edge and started cracking it open with sharp nails, sorting out oysters and handing Katsuki the crab like he was offering a rare treasure."

    Like the story, though!
