"Neuvillette does not remember a great deal from his past life, but he remembers his tail. He remembers the feeling of it, strong and heavy behind him. He remembers how he had swum with it, how he had fought with it, though the memory of those waters and those battles had been torn from the fabric of his being along with his Authority. All that remains is the tail, the lost limb of it aching in the dead of night as he tries to sleep in a body that does not exist."
The scales of justice are perfectly balanced. Neuvillette is... less so.
