Summary
“It’s not a real kid, Chase.”
Chase is technically underage, he’s a year away from being able to drink but the bartender didn’t bother to check his ID. Chase has always looked a little older than he was, it works in his favor now.
Nobody at a hero bar like this would assume he was so young.
“How the fuck do you think that?” Chase asks, spits. His hands still shake with the memory of it. The beer in his hand shakes with the tremors of his hands. “How the fuck do you do it?”
Mechaman sighs, deep, disappointed. He leans back, taking his whiskey with him.
The rest of the Brave Brigade was downstairs, drinking in victory, dancing with the other heroes, celebrating.
“It’s the Astral Pulse.”

Summary
His first mistake is not picking up the phone.
In Jud’s defense, it’s been a long fucking day. And not one that he’s keen to recount.
He’s kept the damn thing turned off for most of the day. As a rule, he stays fairly available on Sundays, but—well, extenuating circumstances call for extreme reactions. Thankfully, he had kept enough of his head after Mass to force a shutdown instead of what he wanted to do, which was to hurl it against the wall and watch it shatter into a million tiny pieces.
Night is young, though.
Or: A Wicks truther comes after Jud in the middle of Mass. He's fine. Benoit disagrees.

Summary
Kim feels for the Satellite Officer. It’s clear what he’s been through, what Harry has subjected him to over the last few years - Kim only knows the half of it, of course, but he’s seen it before, hermit-cops pushing everyone away, their partner last man standing at the bombsite. Still, it feels cruel to punish this person for it, this wiped-clean, remade Harry, looking at Kim now like a bottle-fed animal about to be released into the wild. If Kim does go to the 41st, navigating all this will be an extra layer of complexity. He should think very carefully about it - about whether it’s worth getting mixed up in all of it. The mess.
A slow-burn, Kim-POV story about going to the 41st, against his better judgement.

Summary
“I probably deserved it,” Harry says contemplatively as you pull out of the motor pool. He’s looking out of the window up at the light on in C-Wing when you finally glance over your shoulder at him and decide you don’t care if he deserved it or not. You will take this man back to your apartment by the harbour and you will give him soup because there will be no fresh food until you go to the supermarché tomorrow, and you will set him up on the couch with the old spare duvet from the airing cupboard, and you will check the dressings on his wounds again in the morning.
And that you do.
harry (unofficially) moves in with kim after martinaise.
