The direct heirs of the Lan Sect are allowed special privileges, much to the amazement of the rest of the cultivation world. Lan Xichen, as the current Sect leader, is responsible for making sure Lan Wangji is well-educated in all areas, just as Lan Qiren had done for him (and, to some extent, also does for Lan Wangji now as well).
