Summary
The Dragon Witch is sick and tired of only fighting Roman. He wants to hurt, to make the prince suffer. He wants to make sure that Roman knows who's in charge. The only way to do that is to strike the prince right where it hurts- his loves. And that's exactly what he intends to do.
Virgil is terrified of a lot of things, but being a burden on those who love him is at the top of his list. And hurting his loves? Forget about it. With all the anxious side has going on already, he's an easy target for the Dragon Witch.
Full Disclosure: I woke up at 3 in the morning with a screaming plot bunny and wrote this entire thing in one go. So it probably sucks. It's over 13,000 words long though, so I'm gonna post it anyways. Hope ya dig!

Summary
Virgil has, beyond anything else, always aimed to protect Thomas and the other sides. However, threats do not only lurk in the outside world. The anxious side fights hard to guard his loved ones from vicious nightmares that torture him with grueling images and distort his very skin before his eyes. He must not sleep during those dark and frightful nights and let them get to his family. Yet, the longer he remains awake, hiding his duty from his lovers, the harder rest comes by when he can actually allow himself a reprise from his trials. Virgil feels himself wearing thin, weakening in the face of his lonely mission. He feels the darkness of his past slowly close in on him, as long as his caring family remains unaware.

When Joel came to Hermitcraft he quickly learned that a couple of the hermits were age regressors.
Now when he first joined he didn't know what that meant. He'd known lots of the hermits for years but he'd never heard of it. They'd never told him about it, even though some of the ones he knew closely were apparently regressors. Xisuma had given him a quiet heads up and quickly explained the general gist when it became clear Joel had no idea what he was on about.
Joel had gone on and done some research on his own and then pestered Xisuma with his mountain of follow up questions. He didn't seem upset about it, actually he said he was happy Joel was taking this so seriously and respectfully. He'd come out of it with a pretty good understanding of it.
He thought. He hoped.
