“Then tell us, Executive Nakahara Chuuya,” Ranpo said with a light voice when saying Chuuya’s title, “Who are they targeting and why?”
Chuuya didn’t open his mouth to explain, he simply continued staring through Ranpo. Dazai looked at his partner, noting the distant gaze of his eyes, all the tells in his body language that wanted to run, that wanted to fight.
“Or you could tell us why your name was all over every single document we saw, I bet we could piece it together from that.” Ranpo continued, leaning back in his chair.
“Nakahara, all intel should be shared if we have any chance of defeating our shared enemy.” Fukuzawa stated, his voice steady and remained authoritative.
“I am, they're after me."

No one else seemed to notice the weird spark between them. Shirase, right on cue, guided the discussion to the next step of their plan: an offer of hospitality. He gestured casually toward the stage, pointing right at Chuuya, and suggested the Port Mafia Boss take his pick of the dancers.
The old man chuckled, amusement softening his lined features. “I’m too old for that kind of fun,” he said, voice full of intentional warmth, before he inclined his head toward the younger alpha who had yet to take his eyes off Chuuya.
The alpha’s gaze lingered, steady and unreadable, making Chuuya suddenly understand that the real negotiation was just about to begin.
The Boss’s lips twitched in faint humour as he continued, “I appreciate the offer, but let my friend here take the opportunity. Your dancer seems quite interested in him as well.”
Bingo.
If Chuuya’s instincts were right, – and they were most of the time, – the old man had just handed him the key to securing this deal.
