He couldn’t help but feel conscious. I mean, there was Ethan- all tanned and handsome and rugged- walking to get coffee with Benji, who wouldn’t look out of place trying to upsell you on a phone contract you didn’t need.
It wasn’t like he hadn’t noticed the looks from his colleagues either. He’d been asked how he’d managed it, making friends with an IMF legend. He couldn’t ever really give them a straight answer, simply telling anyone who asked that he’d gotten close with Ethan while helping him take down Owen Davian. He hesitated to tell them about the bit afterward- what with the divorce, and Ethan coming back to the office looking like a sexy little lost puppy, and Benji swooping in with comforting words and an invitation to lunch.

Neville sits awake in bed, waiting for the eagle owl to perch itself on the windowsill and tap at the glass until the boy acknowledges it. When it happens, he is ready. He learnt early on to wait up; there was always too much risk of any of his dorm mates waking up first.
He’s already at the window by the time the bird has settled outside it, quietly pulling it open so not to wake the others.
