Circling,

To celebrate Arlo's "coronation" (you could barely call it that), Rei insisted, much to his dismay, on dragging him and his younger sister, Remi, to the mall for the afternoon. And if it couldn't go any worse, the siblings were late— leaving Arlo alone in the mall for the following twenty-one minutes. Who would know, that in those twenty-one minutes, he would buy a book that would land anyone in jail nearly a month later?
Two years after Arlo bought the book, he's getting a peculiar sense of what he's decided, for the time being, to be déjà vu. Something he can't quite put his finger on. Someone he can't quite remember.
OR : Arlo, had, in fact, bought Unordinary (and quite possibly read it), and memories from a past battle he fought start resurfacing— something he’d tried so hard to forget.

Even if he was now back home, with his dad and in an environment he knew and used to be comfortable in, he couldn’t get his mind off what happened there. Adding onto that, he hadn’t activated his ability in almost a full year, and John didn’t intend to do so any time soon. At least not for a longer while.

Or; An Au where John is provided of the tools to slowly get better and it's a lot more sane when he enrolls to Wellston High, he doesn't become part of the Royals officially, but doesn't need to act as a cripple. Arlo is still an asshole for a while though.

Jarlo because i think this dynamic would be sweet, i tried to resist self-projecting onto Arlo, and tried to make the characters as close to how they act as possible from my point of view + bias, but, i’m not uru-chan so it’s bound to stray far from canon.
