The woman--or princess, she supposes--also seems to be around her age as well. Her royal robes, browns and whites and reds woven together, flow along her graceful figure as she keeps her chin up high. Her brown hair is pinned up in a labyrinth of braids. She's perhaps the only one in the family who stared at Maalaus with such glaring intent, at least with how her sapphire eyes stare right at Columbina through the painting.
Columbina turns away from the painting and asks, "Who is she?"
OR
Princess Columbina already has her whole dull life laid out by her mother, the queen. As she travels to a neighboring kingdom for her arranged marriage, she meets a strange new woman who uproots her whole life.

She sighs. In times like these, Columbina has the tendency to demand her full attention. Instead of shrugging her off, she turns around so that she's facing her girlfriend, resting against her makeup desk. Eyes appreciatively roving over her girlfriend's figure, Sandrone raises an eyebrow. "Speak for yourself."

Sandrone can't focus on doing her job. Not when Columbina keeps saying how pretty she looks when she dies. (Among...other things).
