Summary
Keith has always known he’s different.
That part is old news. He made peace with it a long time ago, somewhere between flunking out of the Garrison and discovering he was half-Galra. Compared to that, being a little awkward, a little out of place, barely even registers.
What does not make sense is the rest of it. Because at no point during the rebuilding of the universe, the formation of the Coalition, or his promotion to Blade Leader did anyone sit him down and 'say, hey, by the way, you got taller!'.
If he had been better at it, he might have realized sooner that he’d had some sort of growth spurt.
The first one to notice it was Pidge.

When Keith agreed to give one of Allura’s friends a ride to Phoenix for the summer, he never expected that friend to be the hurricane of a human that was Lance McClain.

Keith and Lance carpool one time. Somehow, that snowballs into friendship, vacations, and inexplicable feelings that start keeping Keith up at night and turning every moment around Lance into a living hell. Well, a living hell that Keith happens to quite like. But only sometimes.

Summary
Keith sacrifices himself to save a whole planet; in doing so he gets sucked into a wormhole, leading back to Earth.
He crash lands the Red Lion. The broken lion can't get a message back to his team. All alone, Keith knows he can't go back to the Garrison, just look at what they did to Shiro when he crash landed on Earth. He can't go back to Texas, there's no one waiting for him there.
That's when Keith remembers something his boyfriend said, something about how his family would accept him as one of their own...
OR basically Keith bonding with Lance's family on Earth as he tries to get his lion working again so he can reunite with his team.
