    Summary

    It’s almost impossible to find a good love story these days. Disney thinks they have a monopoly on fairytales, and heterosexuals think they have a monopoly on Disney, so China’s got a pretty solid lock on me and Spidey slinging off into the sunset on the big screen. If I want accurate representation of the pansexual disaster I am, I have to come to this back-alley dumpster of a website that’s older than most of the characters it makes fuck. (Probably half its users, too. Christ. Go skip ropes or something.)

    I’m not even asking for a super intense, NC-17, hardcore portrayal of my love life, just something where we get to kiss or hold hands or something cute like that. I want to share a milkshake with a hot radioactive were-arachnid. I want a fun little romance. That’s all.

     

    Anyway, so I’m railing this guy I met on Grindr, right, and he’s a sweating, slobbering wreck about it.

    Peter chews on the inside of his cheek. “Yep,” he decides on.

    “And — just to be clear — I definitely shouldn’t unalive this guy instead of the douchebag across the street.”

    “Definitely not,” Peter agrees. “No one would like that.”

    Wade bangs his head against the fire escape again. “Okay, Webs. This one’s just to gauge if you’re smarter than a fifth grader: how much of that do you think I actually believe?”

    Or: Somehow, the components of Peter’s secret identity keep crumbling all around him.

    Also: He’s running out of excuses not to tell Wade that he’s in love with him.

    Wade scoffs, shaking his head and elbowing Peter in the side. “Sure,” he says, sarcastic. “That’s why your spidey-sense doesn’t see me.”

    Peter’s on the verge of laughing, wanting to join Wade in his amusement, but he freezes. His entire body goes still. He finds himself staring at a roof three buildings over, not even looking at anything. Two blocks away, a car alarm finally shuts off.

    “I never told you that,” Peter says, the realization startling him.

    Or: Peter's starting to realize just how much Wade knows about him.

Which took fucking forever. As good as Wade's healing factor was, coming all the way back from the roadkill stage was still going to take–
