Jason gets sick, which is a pretty common (and crummy) thing that happens when you're a kid. This time, though, he realizes something new during his illness. Something that can actually maybe help some of the people in his family.

    Summary

Debris nearly takes him out, catching himself before his humiliating crash and burn, when some kind of liquid splashes onto the pavement and—now, Red Hood is screaming. What.

Matt hears several people scream into the intercoms, both his pilfered one and Red Hood’s. It’s not just that mysterious Oracle; multiple voices are cutting in and out, trying to ask what would get the Red Hood to scream in pain like that. Then it’s back to just Oracle. They’re trying to get Red Hood to talk, to answer all of these questions.

He quickly makes his way back to Red Hood when he fails to reply, breathing laboriously and tumbling back until he slams against an abandoned car.

“Daredevil, tell me what’s going on.” Oracle is sterner than before. Everything about this is disorienting.

As much as Matt would love to tell them what happened, even he doesn’t fully understand; he doesn’t have any answers to give.

Or, this thing between Daredevil and Red Hood may be new, but the thing between Matt and Jason is just beginning. Could've done without the injury that hits close to home, but that's just their luck, isn't it?

    Summary

He wonders what his father’s mind had been doing in those last moments. His instructors had once taught him that the human brain preserves its most important memories before the final fade—the sharpest flashes of light, the faces, the voices, the warmth.

Damian knows, with terrible certainty, that he wasn’t one of them.

He can picture it all too easily: a flicker of Grayson’s smile, the knit of Drake’s concentrated brow, the old man’s trembling hands, even the sharp snark of Todd. But never him. He doesn’t fit anywhere in those final recollections, doesn’t belong in that gallery of love and legacy.

It shouldn’t matter. It really shouldn’t. He tells himself he’s above it. He’s stronger, colder, trained not to care about what the dead remember. But the words sound hollow even inside his head. And still—still—he wants to ask.

The question curls up in his throat like a child hiding from punishment. Did you think of me? Even once?

Or perhaps, in some gentler world, Damian might have found that the body remembers healing more faithfully than it does pain.

Marvel looked up from what appeared to be a granola bar. "Hmm?"

"Red Hood is operating in your city," Batman said, in the voice he used when he was being very careful not to let an emotion into his tone, which paradoxically conveyed more emotion than if he'd just yelled.

"Oh!" Marvel said. "Yeah, I know."

People very rarely tell Batman "No." Nobody expected Captain Marvel, sunshine man, to join the very short list.

    Summary

María hadn't expected to see the Red Hood that night. Crime Alley had been quiet lately and usually that meant Hood was camped out on a roof, watching but not engaging. Hell, he should probably have turned in by now. But, around 4am, when María and Stella were the last ones out, and even they were getting ready to go home, he dropped heavily into the alley behind them. María knew he could move silently, if he wanted to.

“When are you heading in for the night?” He asked.

“Was gonna give it until 4:30.”

She could tell by his body language that he was going to respond, but squealing tires had all of their attention on a car twisting around the corner. The windows were down. María had just enough time to register the flash of guns before Hood dragged her and Stella to the ground.

He hovered over them, back to the street, as gunshots echoed off the buildings.
