Summary
Fitzjames doesn’t say whether or not he’s been able to sleep. The other captain gets up, taking care not to lose his balance as he crosses behind Crozier and walks over to the gramophone. He starts to turn the handle, but the music still sounds wrong, garbled as if the orchestra is coming out of a meat grinder. Fitzjames only turns it a few times before giving up.
“Christ, you really can’t tell what they’re playing.”
Crozier turns around to look at his second, but Fitzjames still has his back turned. He’s leaned over the gramophone, swaying from side to side as if he’s imagining music.
“James, are you alright?” Crozier asks.
“Dance with me.”

“It’s called -” Francis huffed into the phone, commended his soul to a god he wasn’t quite sure he still believed in. “Right now, it’s called…” He sighed. “It’s called Barrow’s Baking Boys.”
When Francis tried out for what he thought was Bake Off, he didn't expect to end up on a knock-off run by an aging baker desperate for a legacy. But now he's here, trying to keep up with the younger bakers and their flashy piping, avoid the eyes of cameras that only seem to catch him at his worst, and do his best not to be distracted by that posh bastard with the perfect hair.Ten weeks, twelve contestants, two hundred and twenty five bakes.
One winner.

Summary
“It’s me, James. Can I come in?”
Crozier hears his second swear again, and there’s rustling around like he’s trying to move something. “One– moment–” Fitzjames’s voice sounds strained. There’s a dull thud and the sound of a pained gasp.
Slightly worried by his reply, Crozier starts to pull open the ties on the tent flap. “James?” He asks, stepping inside. “What’s going on? Are you alright–”
Fitzjames is crumpled on the ground, his shirt pulled halfway over his head. It looks almost comically too large for him, and his arms are tangled in the sleeves. Crozier can see his ribs protruding under his skin, and for a moment he sees a spot of blood before the younger captain swiftly tugs the edge of his shirt down. Fitzjames wraps his arms around himself and looks up sharply at Crozier, color rising to his cheeks.
“Good lord, Francis, you might’ve waited.” He huffs, pulling his bracers up and grabbing his sweater to put it back on as well.
