Summary
Percy's fatal flaw isn't only fatal to everyone around him, but fatal to himself. Will Percy allow his fatal flaw to take over and willingly sacrifice himself to the hands of Polyphemus to allow his friends time to escape? to allow Annabeth a sliver of chance at beating the odds, even when its stacked against them all?
Or: what if Percy was hit and injured by Polyphemus instead, how would Annabeth react?

Summary
Percy groans, his head lolling forward. “‘Beth?” he croaks out. “Wha’ happened?” Her heart stutters and she tucks him closer to her chest, trying not to panic when she can feel his fever burning through her shirt. He’s getting worse by the second.
“You’re just a little sick, sunshine. We’re gonna find a place to rest.” she says, forcing her voice to not sound as devastated as she feels.
“...did I ruin the quest again?” he mumbles into her neck and her heart just about breaks.
“No, no sweetheart, you didn't ruin anything,” she whispers into his hair, rubbing his back in what she hopes is a soothing gesture. “Didn’t I tell you you’re more important than a quest?”
He’s stopped responding and Annabeth's stomach drops as she feels frantically for his pulse, two fingers placed on the soft hollow beside his windpipe. It’s faint, but still there, thank the Gods.
That’s how she spends the next few minutes while waiting for Grover to return - counting Percy’s pulse.
He’s not dying on her watch.
Or: Annabeth, Percy, and Grover go on their second quest together, and (shockingly) everything goes wrong.

Summary
A slight AU for the end of season 2 episode 4, where Percy overextends his powers trying to keep the ship together, and pays the price for it. Annabeth and Percy land on Circe's island, but before any of her followers find them, Annabeth takes care of Percy while facing her inner turmoil of having made the decisions that put them there.

And then his head whipped around, against his own volition. He needed to see whatever was on the shore.
He moved to the railing of the ship, distant screams fading as he moved closer to the water.
He looked out onto the rocks, and immediately jumped over the side of the boat, landing in the water with a splash.
On the jagged shoreline, Percy saw Luke, and Annabeth was with him.

Summary
After the passing acknowledgement of Riptide’s changed proportions in Percy’s wield, Annabeth had perceivably gotten used to the…change. It happened with all boys, after all. Even forbidden children. It would’ve happened eventually anyway; she couldn't understand why anyone made such a big deal about it.

Summary
He was back in that stupid chair. He could tell by feel alone, the warm, gold material beneath his hands. The walls had the same paintings, and water splashed around the makeshift island. The gap in the walls that should have shown the rest of the water ride only showed darkness. Darkness that seemed to be slowly closing in.
