It took one violent encounter that almost cost him his life and his dragon for Lucerys to finally realize that Aemond Targaryen is obsessed. He is territorial, possessive, and extremely obsessive. To the point of madness. Yes, indeed, that man is a madman.
And it took a shit amount of letters sent by said madman for Lucerys to realize that the object of Aemond Targaryen's obsession is none other than himself.
No matter where he goes, how deep of a hole he dug, that man will chase after him endlessly.
So what else can Lucerys do but to make use of this obsession and make a living out of it. After all, if he could tame a wild beast to be loyal to him, Lucerys would be able to live a long, safe and quiet life. No war.

Lucerys thinks he died. No, he was sure he had died. He could feel it still. The pain of his limbs being ripped, the fire and acid inside Vhagar's mouth, and the death grip he had on Arrax as they were devoured without a trace. He felt it all, and he remembered clearly what he felt. It was real. He died.
And yet.
Yet why is he somehow in his bed ( his hair is blonde..? ), with 7 pairs of eyes staring intently at him.
Also, why in the 7 Kingdoms is his freak of an uncle here??
Or,
Lucerys Velaryon transmigrated into the sickly body of one Lucerys Targaryen from an alternate universe. Another thing. That particular universe is also an Omegaverse. Comedy ensues.
