Summary
Over one hundred thousand years ago, glaciers crept over the body of North America and froze it under a mile of ice. They carried along with them great rocks and boulders and sand and grit, and as they moved, they gouged scars out of the earth.
When they at last reached their southernmost boundary, they left ridges made of those rocks and boulders; a pile of debris not unlike (on a geological scale, at least) the lines of dirt left behind after sweeping dirt into a dustpan.
And now, thirty thousand years after the glaciers melted and retreated, leaving the Great Lakes behind them, it is time for hockey.

Reg had an arm around Eoin’s shoulders as he told the tale. As he ranted and raved, went on and on about how quick Eoin had been to run to Cooper’s rescue. How he’d tackled some unlucky German to the ground and beat him bloody and senseless before he dragged Cooper out of the firing zone and back into safety.
“You really shoulda seen him, Pad. It was beautiful. Just fuckin’ beautiful.”
As if Paddy didn’t already know that. As if Paddy wouldn’t have given anything to have seen it in person.
(Or, Paddy has to stay back from a mission on account of broken ribs. He handles it just fine.)
