Jane looks up at her, mapping the different features of her face — the dusting of freckles across the bridge of her nose, the soft green glow of her eyes, before his gaze finally drops down to the fangs jutting out from her mouth. It’s hard not to be attracted to her like this, if anything. “A beautiful woman has me at her mercy,” he smiles. “What’s not to love?”
Lisbon needs to feed. Jane provides a solution.

“I didn’t think there’d be people like us here,” Alex comments as she polishes off her ice cream cone, and three words reverberate in Seth’s mind. People like us.
It makes her think back to when she was a kid, how her tomboyishness was endearing then, how her masculinity went from cute and acceptable to isolating the second she showed up at her bat mitzvah in a suit and tie (something she had begged to wear) with her hair cropped close to her head. But here’s Alex; all lace and leather and fishnets, big hoop earrings, platinum blonde pompadour standing tall on her head, bright purple streak standing out. Visibly queer in a way that’s different than anyone she has ever seen before.
“Yeah, well, you know now,” Seth finally says.

“Oh, I dunno.” Jimmy runs the pad of his thumb over Bunk’s lower lip. It’s velvety soft and Jimmy feels a hot soda fizz in the pit of his stomach. “I’m guessing it feels like something I’d remember if I was drowning in the ocean and no one was gonna save me.”

Jane knew he should stop Lisbon, stop himself, pull away, maybe finally utter that long overdue apology because they would regret this in the morning, there was no other possible outcome, but Lisbon was right in front of him with barely any space left between them, so close he could feel her breath against his throat, leaving tiny goosebumps in its wake. Maybe if he just touched her carefully, maybe if he acted as if he just wanted to make sure she was all right, it would be enough to satisfy them both. He knew he was lying to himself, he knew he wouldn't be able to stop once he had started, but he still raised his left hand and stroked softly down her right, uninjured side.
