Summary
Konoha's legendary ANBU captain Uchiha Itachi is used to treating injuries like a minor inconvenience—until he ends up in the care of Hyuuga Hinata, the gentle medic who is completely immune to his reputation.
As hospital visits become increasingly frequent (and perhaps a little suspicious), Shisui and Sasuke are convinced their stoic captain has developed a habit of getting injured just to see her again.
With two meddling Uchihas determined to play matchmaker and one oblivious medic focused only on her patients, Itachi may have finally found the one mission he can't complete alone.

An Itachi & Hinata Story
Naruto / Naruto Shippuden AU — Non-Massacre
Author's Note: This story is set in an alternate universe where Itachi never carried out the Uchiha massacre. The Uchiha clan stands, Shisui lives, and the world of Konoha breathes differently — though no less dangerously. Canon threats remain. The Akatsuki stirs in the shadows. Clan politics cut as deep as any blade. This is a story about two people the world underestimated, and what happened when they finally saw each other clearly.

edit 07/27/26: very pleased with how this fic has turned out! there is a lot I really like about it but one thing I very much appreciate is that the characters have to put in work to accomplish things and that makes the payoff even more enjoyable

Summary
Karin stares for a long time at a gap in the kitchen counter, and Naruto hurriedly promises they can fix it, that his and Sasuke’s first new mission together will be putting in a sink and making the house habitable, tomorrow.
He throws another glance towards the front door when he pretends to adjust his headband, and Karin wonders if he might just leave her there if she takes any longer.
“But yeah,” Naruto starts, shuffling towards the door. “I hope you don’t mind the whole bedroom thing, but you can probably work something out between the two of you? Yamato-sensei just assumed Itachi would be here by himself so…”
***
Or, Karin has never really belonged anywhere, and being stranded in Konoha doesn't exactly change that. Itachi has never intended to reconcile with Sasuke, and being kept alive against his will doesn't exactly change that, eitherWritten for Naruto RarePair Bingo!
