Inside, Professor Orloff was already mid-lecture, droning through the syllabus. His aged voice cut off sharply as he turned to face the late arrivals. The liquid inside the jar encasing his head bubbled as he clicked his jaw.
"I trust you have a good reason for being late, Mr. Addams? Mr. Ottinger?” Professor Orloff’s voice was flat and cold. He didn’t seem to notice the third figure half-hidden behind them.
Before Eugene could open his mouth, Pugsley blurted, “We got lost!”
Eugene let out a weary sigh as a few students chuckled quietly. The boy behind them resisted the urge to lean forward and whisper that this wasn’t going to work- but, as always, he held his tongue.
