And now it’s twisted and wrong, turning on itself and its host like a cancer, and nothing you or I can do will fix it.” In which things go a little differently after Loki and his minions leave the SHIELD facility with the Tesseract.
("Graphic Depictions of Violence" is marked even though there really isn't a lot of violence, per se, but there is some body horror; I think it's fairly mild, although as always YMMV. There's also a brief scene of what's essentially mind rape.)

“God, Sam,” he mutters. “Where are you?”
The cat gives a quiet mrowl and stares at him again, then rubs its head against the side of Bucky’s phone.
He pets it absently. “Not right now. I gotta find him.”
Mrowl again, louder this time, impatient. The cat paws at the phone like it’s trying to activate the screen with its toe beans.
And an absurd suspicion occurs to him.
The glowing sigil on the wall. The pile of clothes, and the cat who seems to know how a smartphone works and be waiting for Bucky to get with the program.
He peers down at the cat, feeling faintly ridiculous. “Sam?”
