The padlock clicked into place, a sharp, finite sound in the quiet, and Rosita turned her head back to the fence. Her gaze landed first on Sasha’s fingers. Those long, slender fingers that had so recently been helping her prepare for this very incursion were now sliding away from the padlock holding the chain in place around their entry point. A cold dread settled in Sasha’s stomach as hurt and anger coursed hot through her veins, her gaze travelling up the length of Sasha’s arms until finally their eyes met.
“What the hell are you doing?” she snapped, though she already knew the answer.
“Go.” Sasha’s eyes were wide and imploring and Rosita shook her head in response.
